As of 1 February 2023 we’ll be increasing the amount of paid parental leave from 2 weeks to also include a further 10 weeks of top up payments. This means that when an eligible team member commences parental leave on or after 1 February 2023, they will receive 2 weeks of paid parental leave and then a further 10 weeks will be topped up between the Government paid parental leave to your normal weekly pay (based on contracted hours). For Supermarket CEA team, they will have the option of having the two week full pay at the commencement of the parental leave or one week at commencement and one week at the conclusion.   We are also removing the eligibility period to access paid parental leave. This now means that for Primary Carers, team members who are employed in full or part time roles, are eligible to access Parental Leave entitlements from their first day of employment, a change from the previous 6 month minimum service qualifying period.

Remember the Parental Leave policy isn’t the only support we offer to new parents

Free and confidential support and advice from our EAP provider Benestar

To celebrate and demonstrate our support, Team Members who are the Primary Carer of a newborn child or a newly adopted or fostered child will be provided with a $100 Countdown Gift Card to celebrate the birth or placement.
