Product Manager, Writer, Blogger, E-Commerce Whiz
Hi there! My name is Jess and I’m based in Dunedin, NZ. I am mum to a gorgeous wee girl, and a business owner. I’m a bit of a Jane of all Trades, given my varied work background and current ventures. Here’s a break down of some of my core skills:
An avid writer, I love to write blogs. I blog (fairly) regularly over on my website The Mum Tribe, but also on my personal blog (okay it’s been a while since I’ve blogged here!). I’ve also written product blogs and blog content relevant to the beauty industry in my last job. I love to research and produce blog content that provides value to my readers.
E-commerce software setup
I’ve been through four different e-commerce softwares for my online store so far, and I’ve gained a huge amount of knowledge about each of them. Being a product/software person by trade, I pick things up really fast and can easily troubleshoot. I can do basic HTML/changes to themes in Shopify and BigCommerce. I’m also well versed in the importing of data into these softwares having done it myself a few times now.
Product management/Product marketing
My work background is in product management, and I have worked at an award-winning NASDAQ-listed company as a Product Owner and Product Analyst. In both of these roles I gained skills invaluable skills which I now apply to my business daily.
Using my background in product management, I can help you take your business from fledgling idea to fully launched. I can help you through the product development process to taking your product to market with product marketing strategies. If you already have an established product, I can help you grow and prioritise what you should be doing next, as well as help you with setting achievable goals for your product.
If any of my skills match what you’re looking for in a freelancer, get in touch and we can have a chat 🙂

The Mum Tribe is a small business focused on mothers in New Zealand. I wanted to create a space where mums could learn and grow together, which exists with The Mum Tribe blog and newly launched podcast.
The Mum Tribe store is an online store stocking amazing products for mums and babies, including our very own line of affirmation jewellery for mothers.
Under The Mum Tribe umbrella, I am also building The Mum Hustle which will be a range of resources for mums in business in NZ.
My role as Product Analyst at Timely centred around investigating large strategic opportunities for Timely and advising the Chief Product Officer and Executive Team on how to tackle these. I was also a subject matter expert for the rest of the Product team, advising the Product Owners.
In my role as Product Owner at Timely, I worked with my team to improve the experience of business owners using Timely in their salons.
The role included understanding customer pain points and problems, working with the team to formulate solutions, using data to inform decisions on product improvements and helping the team hit our sprint goals.
I also provided input into the overall product roadmap, managing stakeholders across the business and delivering on product improvements included in the roadmap.
