Experience

Personal Trainer

  •  Jetts 24/7 Fitness
  •  Apr 2022 - Present

As a personal trainer at Jetts, I am responsible for running my own personal training business within Jetts Lower Hutt and Jetts Petone. As a sole trader in this role, I am responsible for screening new clients, creating workout programs, running personal training sessions, updating workout programs, keeping track of payments and accounting duties, running my own social media, creating new promotions, tracking new client leads, and covering admin duties. This role has taught me many valuable lessons in time management, organisation, working with people, caring for people, the whole fitness industry, and marketing strategies. As a "jack of all trades" running my own small business, I have a wide variety of skills that will hopefully one day be perfected.

Education

New Zealand Diploma in Commercial Dance

  •  Te Ahaha Institute of Creativity
  •  Feb 2019 - Nov 2020

During my study, I learned many valuable skills directly relating to dancing and creativity as well as important life skills. My main dance styles I worked on were ballet, jazz, contemporary, and tap. These styles were my personal favourites and my main skills. Because of this they naturally became my favourite classes to attend. I also learned ballroom, hiphop, and acting classes. These were lower down on my list of favourite things to do but working on them allowed me to build resilience, determination, and new skills as I was forced out of my comfort zone and to try new things. I try to relate back to these experiences when starting a new job, learning a new skill, or just doing anything that may put me outside of my comfort zone. Through my two year experience with full time pre professional dancing, I learned many valuable lessons about hard work, time management, working with lots of different people, team work, and going outside my comfort zone.

Level 4 Certificate in Personal Training

  •  Fit Futures Academy
  •  Mar 2021 - Feb 2022

I decided I wanted to become a personal trainer after I finished my dance diploma because I realised that I wanted to pursue a career helping people become the fittest, healthiest version of themselves. It was important to me to qualify myself in this area so that I could offer my clients the best possible service. I studied this certificate online, meaning that I had no set classes, assessment dates, or due dates. Because of this I had to manage my time wisely around my full time retail job and holding myself accountable for my own studies.
